This is an entry-level to full performance-level technical inspection and code enforcement work performed under the close supervision of a higher-level supervisor. Candidate must display proficiency in routine and less complex duties associated with the position for the promotion. Inspects all phases of work including maintenance of traffic, grading, roadway components (paving/resurfacing and traffic signals/signage), concrete repair and replacement, guard rail, speed humps, and drainage-related projects to verify compliance with specifications, standards, approved plans, and applicable ordinances. Inspects public service requests about sidewalks, curb and gutter, asphalt, concrete, underdrains, stormwater management facilities, and drainage-related matters. Evaluates and makes recommendations for maintenance repair or replacement. Attends training to increase/enhance inspection skills. Performs basic mathematical computations to compute quantities, costs, and rates associated with material requirements. Prepares and submits daily, weekly, and monthly reports on contract activities. Conducts inventory and condition assessments of asphalt, concrete, guardrail, speed humps, and drainage infrastructure. It also identifies locations requiring code enforcement or compliance action.
